Did you know…
I’m strangely obsessed with treasure hunting. Think Forrest Fenn, Byron Preiss, etc. I have theories for San Francisco, Montreal, New Orleans, and Roanoke Island. IYKYK. I will get a coffee or a cocktail with you and talk treasure hunting for hours.
I’ve never assembled a piece of IKEA furniture in less than an hour.
I am absolutely captivated by dogs. Like, if I see one, I must stop and ask if I can pet it.
I taught high school in South Central Los Angeles for 13 years.
I love brushing my teeth.
I’ve never broken a bone.
If you start talking too much technology, I get a glazed look and only hear white noise.
I grew up in love with horses. When I was 11 and broke, I convinced a horse trainer to give me English jumping lessons in exchange for picking up horse poop. #sidehustle
I love to laugh. Negative Nancys and complain-y people need a hug. But also, go for a run. Touch grass. Sheesh.
Fall is for football.
Arguing exhausts me. If someone gets confrontational or verbally aggressive, I’ll walk away (or laugh nervously, so it’s better I walk away).
If I need help sleeping, I either listen to 15 minutes of the podcast Stuff You Should Know (their voices are so pleasant, and they never argue, so they just lull me to sleep) or I watch Forensics Files (so calming because it’s already solved).
I love going to bed early on New Year’s Eve, then waking up at 6 AM on January 1st, starting off my day with a run on the beach, praying and thanking God for the past year, and dreaming about the upcoming year.
I once won a hula-hoop contest in junior high for hula-hooping for two and a half hours without stopping.
My first job at sixteen was a snow ski instructor.
I ran cross-country for Loyola Marymount University.
I’m incredibly bad at singing, but I love to sing.
I love to dance in my house—music or no music—while cooking, vacuuming, folding laundry, making coffee, you name it! If it’s an activity I can dance to, I’m dancing. Notice there’s no mention of skill. Lol.
I love competing in OCRs (obstacle course races). Racing makes me happy.
I love getting hand-written letters in the mail.
